Learn moreEven though sustainability in hosting often plays a secondary role for many customers, it is still important to us as a hosting provider to be transparent and to make it easier for our customers to choose our hosting services.
Sustainability is an important issue for us at punkt.de GmbH.
Certification is also becoming increasingly important, for example, ISO 27001. You can find all the details about our hosting services on this page.

We use data centers from the following providers to host our standard proServer products:
If you would like to know which data center your application is located in, please contact us at hosting@punkt.de.
For custom infrastructure, hosting is also customized. We are completely agnostic when it comes to hosting. If you have any requirements regarding the sustainability of your infrastructure, we’ll be happy to take them into account. Please contact us directly at: hosting@punkt.de.
As data center operators, we have high energy needs. It is important to us to meet these needs exclusively with renewable energy. Our data centers in Germany have been using hydropower since 2008. The Datacenter Park in Finland has been powered by hydropower since its construction in 2018.

Hetzner’s data centers are in-house developments designed with a focus on highly energy-efficient operation. They are optimized for cooling with outside air. The raised floor, cold aisle containment, and sloped pent roof automatically and precisely direct airflow through the data center.
PUE measures the energy efficiency of data centers. The closer the value is to 1.0, the higher the efficiency. The PUE of our data centers ranges between 1.10 and 1.16.
WUE measures water consumption in a data center. We use only air to cool our servers and do not require water cooling.
On the Hetzner website, you can view the power consumption in watts for our various servers in the respective product matrix under the “Power Consumption” section.
punkt.de, GmbH will be happy to provide you with information about your server type; please contact us directly and include your proServer ID (which you can find on your invoice).

Hetzner is not yet fully climate-neutral. We source 100% of our electricity from renewable energy sources—in Germany, from hydropower. Compared to the national electricity mix in Germany, we reduce our CO₂ emissions at our German locations by 77,000 metric tons of CO₂ per year.
We strive for the highest possible efficiency throughout the entire value chain. With an average PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of 1.13, the operation of our data centers is extremely energy-efficient.
Through the Server Exchange, Hetzner extends the useful life of our hardware.
Unneeded components are removed, and airflow is optimized for efficient cooling.
A server’s lifecycle begins with the development of our own models and assembly in our hardware department. When older server models are decommissioned after use in the data center, they usually end up in our server exchange—tested, ready for use, and affordable.
If defects are detected during testing, the servers are repaired. If repair isn’t possible, individual hardware components are reused or recycled. This allows us to extend the service life of our servers to an average of eight years and conserve resources.
